Unity and meaning: "I felt no need to express this feeling and knowledge to those I encountered. I sensed that my friends were aware of something special happening inside and through me. Prior to this community event, I had recently completed reading The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran. While reading the book, at once I felt truth unfolding itself to me and an internal validation of its authenticity and validity. During my mystical experience, I recall a cognitive awareness that the reading had prepared me for the experience. Somehow7, it felt as though the reading had been a precursor to mystical experience at the block party. So as I jumped up and down to the music, then mingled among the crowd, I sensed a unity of being one with the Spirit of God and those around me. "

Timothy Leary reports several LSD induced Unity Experiences. "I was delighted to see that my skin was dissolving in tiny particles and floating away. I felt as though my outer shell was disintegrating, and the 'essence' of me was being liberated to join the 'essence' of everything else about me."
