According to Harner, the group practice of Spirit Boat, Spirit Canoe or Spirit Raft is a common shamanic practice alone the Northest Coast of America, the NorthWest Amazon, in Australia and Indonesia". [1].
This is a practice designed to draw together the energies of multiple people primarily for the purpose of healing.
