Sin
A Sin is any action that
- is out of alignment with the nature and intent of the Resident Monadic Consciousness and
- causes injury or harm to another living being.

You you can be out of alignment but still not sin. A sin only occurs when you hurt another living being, for any reason.
When we sin, we harm other living beings. Harm to other living beings damages the Physical Unit and, if the harm is chronic and long term, lowers the Consciousness Quotient of the individual. Sinning reduces Consciousness and therefore sinning against others is a "crime" against Consciousness (a.k.a. God/Krishna/Christ) and our collective divinity.
When we sin we harm ourselves. Sin causes disjuncture. Disjuncture leads to guilt and shame, and guilt and shame may lead to neurosis, psychosis, and even (owing to the diversion of bodily energy) physical distress and disease.
If "sinful" actions are stopped, disjuncture dissipates and the physical unit returns to normal energetic function (possibly after a period of Atonement. If the disjunctive acts are not stopped, pressure from the Resident Monadic Consciousness to correct action builds, and cognitive, emotional, and spiritual dissonance rises triggering, among other pathologies, Awareness Reduction Mechanisms in the physical unit.
It should be noted that disjunctive actions and sin (i.e. disjunctive actions that harm others)) are not the only cause of pathology. Failure to adequately attend to the needs of the physical unit, violence and abuse we experience (i.e. Toxic Socialization, and the sins we commit against others all contribute to pathogenesis.
