Intellectualization is an Awareness Reduction Mechanisms that the Bodily Ego uses to avoid uncomfortable confrontation with reality. Intellectualization involves engrossing oneself in the cognitive/intellectuals aspects of a situation to the point where you completely disregard the uncomfortable emotional aspects that are involved.
