The concept introduced in LPWBKII in the context of meeting the Seven Essential Needs. In order to be successful at making changes in one's life, one must be realistic about what needs to be done and how to do it.

Realistic means taking into account domestic, social, environmental, political, and economic limitations.

A goal of therapy is the establishment of a state of realistic empowerment in the client.
