The Parable of teh Candle is used to provide some sense of the magnitude of difference between the normal consciousness of a veiled physical unit and the raw power of Monadic Consciousness. The metaphor goes something like this, consider your normal day to day consciousness to be like a candle, and consider the raw and powerful consciousness of your monadic spark as like the sun. The difference in magnitude between the candle and the sun is the difference between what we accept as "normal" during our day to day existence, and what is possible should we have a fully functioning and ascended physical unit.
