Notes

Shradda requires strong self-esteem and faith in oneself. "Shraddha is more than faith. It is a conviction of power and the desire to translate faith into action. When a man has a conviction that he can express an ideal or emotion, then alone his mind becomes dynamic. It becomes active in its totality. When there is no conviction or faith, there is no possibility of unifying the will."<ref>Akhilananda, Swami. Hindu Psychology: Its Meaning in the West. Routledge, 1948.<?ref>
