Notes
The concept and importance of accountability is a pervasive concept in spiritual and prophetic commentary. Accountability goes hand in hand with Atonement and are often understood as functioning together. One becomes accountable for one's toxicity and the damage, one atones (i.e. helps repair) the damage.
The Christian concept of repentance reflects the idea that acknowledgment and atonement is often accompanied by deep shame and guilt when one realizes the toxicity of their actions. The most effective tonic against guilt and shame from past actions is atonement. If you want to feel better about the shitty things you've done, atone to the people and for the lives you have damaged.
Galatians 6: 1-6 "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor."
The concept of acknowledgment is a common theme of spiritual and prophetic commentary. For example, in Handsome Lake's Great Message, witches are described as toxic people who spread disease and sickness. In section two of his Great Message, Handsome Lake suggests that for witches to be saved they must "confess before all the people" or, if their sins are too horrible, out in the woods in private before the creator.[1] Truth, i.e. not lying to yourself (HEALING Framework) and others, is important here. "In this manner all must say and say truly, then the prayer will be sufficient."[2]
Can't fool your Highest self " Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked" [Galatians 6: 7]
