Creation from withhin the Universe seems to have two distinct mechanisms of manipulation and control. One is direct and literal, known as Magic. The other is indirect, metaphoric and is known as physics (determination).

When we visualize something, we use magic. It is the most direct way - the initial way - to alter creation.

When we construct something physical for instance, the control mechanism is indirect, because consciousness has to act through a medium (the Physical Unit) in order to fulfil its' wish.

The higher self needed the body in order to achieve a change in the universe. Therefore, it was an indirect way. Archetypes are a method used in order to facilitate and automate intent. Two types of intent, look archetypes page and archetypes talk page. Hereby, a set of archetypes could be called an indirect indirect (yes, i didn't misspell) method towards reality control. If we see the body as a means towards reality control (of course it's more than just that, for instance it allows experience and feelings), then the human creating a change, even without archetypes, is already an indirect control of the monad over the universe. When archetypes are utilized, then the body is being programed, which makes it an indirect indirect control mechanism.

Note that the greatness of the scale of the spells are not indicative of the intent of the magician. Even "selfish" spells which aim for self enhancement may be used for the greater good. If a Lightworker spends some time on self empowerment via magic, it still aims for the greater good, although the cast spell is absolutely aimed for achieving personal ("selfish") reasons. Note that intent may be stratified. One single action affects a) oneself, b) surroundings, c) society, d) the world. The intent of an action may be good for oneself, but bad for the surroundings, yet again good for the society and still then bad for the world. Example:
A war breaks out. A father decides to go to war in order to "defend" his country. He is promissed high amounts of money and honour (should he be able to return home). Which (from his perspective) is good for him. This action is bad for his family, as he will be missing from home. This action will be good for his country, since it will preserve itself more likely. This action is bad for the world because war inevitably leads to hurt, destruction, agony, and finally disconnection. The ability to chose actions which are good for all four areas of effect is what the LP calls ''allignment''. That action will then reflect the wishes of your higher consciousness. Obviously, the system in which we live should be designed in a way which facilitates actions which are in allignment. Our current system systematically does the opposite: it makes it very difficult to act in an alligned way, even for the most basic decisions we have. If the food you eat, the clothes you wear are being "harvested" in unbearable circumstances, your act of buying the stuff makes you part of it. Your action was not in allignment.

Aspects of Magic

Magic could be subdivided into several categories, depending on the aspect one wishes to describe.

The method of the magician.

The intent of the magician.

The scale of the magic.

The Method

Three methods of magic appear to be existent.

1) Direct Magic

Direct magic is, well, direct, instantaneous, literal. There are several ways to instantiate it, but the most common is via visualization. Generally, there seems to be no constraint on the exact form of the "vehicle" one uses. Visualization is one way of setting intent into form. Auditory channel is another. It doesn't matter what you do, as long as your intent stays focused and persistent. For most people it is easier with some form of "vehicle" (for a lack of a better word).

2) Indirect Magic

Indirect magic is (Archetypes, but generally the human body. The human body has the ability to be directed directly by the intent of our higher consciousness, via the brain. Neurons are the intermittent key, functioning as an interface between the monad and this universe. When the intent is set, and when the body listens, then that act is an indirect form of magic.

3) Science

Use the quote, advanced science = magic etc. Generally, science is the art of manipulating via total determination. (Up until recently that is.)

Notes: With quantum mechanics, the first two methods are being connected.

The Intent

Take up what Michael defined: black magic and white magic.

Additionally, make a sharp destinction between selfishness and evil. Selfish can potentially be good. Defining black magic might work via the connection level of the individual. The colour fits. The caster of the "black magic" spell doesn't see anything as she is casting the spell. While a caster of white magic sees clearly. She is connected to the source, automatically giving her lots of consciousness, understanding and insight. Make a note later on allignment. Black magic, not in allignment, white magic is in allignment.

The Scale

a) self b) surroundings c) society d) world

Notes

Note that the greatness of the scale of the spells are not indicative of the intent of the magician. Even "selfish" spells which aim for self enhancement may be used for the greater good. If a Lightworker spends some time on self empowerment via magic, it still aims for the greater good, although the cast spell is absolutely aimed for achieving personal ("selfish") reasons. Note that intent may be stratified. One single action affects a) oneself, b) surroundings, c) society, d) the world. The intent of an action may be good for oneself, but bad for the surroundings, yet again good for the society and still then bad for the world. Example: A war breaks out. The ability to chose actions which are good for all four areas of effect is what the LP calls allignment.
