Govinda (Gōviṃda, Gopāla, Govind, Gopal)(Sanskrit: गोविंद) is name of Vishnu/Krishna and is used to reference the Supportive and Protective Aspects of Consciousness. It may be used to refer to Vishnu as an adult cowherd and protector of cows )(remembering that cows are sacred in India). It may also be used to refer to the youthful Krishna as he dances and is most happy amongst the cows of earth.
