Society is the sum of Natural Environment and Social Environment. To understand the emergence and development of any society you must understand the dialectical interaction between continuously changing and evolving natural and social environments.

Societies exist at multiple levels of aggregation. Societies may be defined by geographical, political, economic, religious, or even intellectual boundaries. There is a society of Americans just as there is a society of chess players, or a society of Bronies.
