| <div class="definition">A '''Substance Attachment''' (a.k.a. Substance Addiction) is an attachment to things like alcohol, smoking, tobacco, cocaine, heroin, opioids and so on. Any substance that either reduces the pain you feel (e.g. the stupefying effects of alcohol), provides escape and release, or triggers the release of “feel good” chemicals in the brain (e.g. nicotine, gambling, alcohol, eating, etc.) can easily become an attachment when accompanied by a [[Dopamine Hit]]. Given the reality of [[Dopamine Attachment]], even substances that are not normally considered addictive, like cannabis for example, can become a toxic attachment under the “right” circumstances.</div>
