The Family
The term The Family is the colloquial designation, used throughout the Rocket Scientists' Guide to Money and the Economy, for the Accumulating Class — the elite economic class that extracts and hoards Labour Value from the Slave Class through the Mechanisms of Accumulation provided by a given Regime of Accumulation, and that reproduces its privileged position across generations through control of material production, the Ideological State Apparatus, and associated symbolic systems.[1]

Check out this awesome Netflix documentary entitled The Family
The name is deliberate. Membership is hereditary and club-like: wealth, position, and access are passed down through families, and entry from outside is rare. The Family protects its own the way families do — and closes ranks against everyone else.
The Family's rule is exercised less through direct command than through employment: politicians of all parties, media owners, and System Agents are, in effect, employed by the Family, whether or not they know it.[2]
Not a conspiracy. The Family is a class position, not a secret cabal. It does not need to meet in back rooms to coordinate; shared class interest, institutional control, and the Old Energy Creation Template do the coordinating. Framing the problem as "evil lizards" or hidden puppet-masters misidentifies the structure and, by dividing people, does the Family's work for it.[3]
Not monolithic. Cracks in the Family's resolve appear as the psychological, economic, and ecological crises of accumulation reach its own members [4]
The term Unfortunate Ones designates the subset of the Family so addicted to accumulation they would destroy the planet rather than relinquish privilege.[3]
Why This Matters
Naming the Accumulating Class "the Family" keeps the analysis grounded in everyday language: everyone understands how families hoard, protect, and pass on advantage.
