Notes
Evidence for the authenticity of the experience--its transformative power.
One fellow said to me, "O Jerry, you only imagine yourself into it; the whole affair is just the work of your imagination." "Well," I replied, "GOOD for imagination!"... I used to be ... wretched, ragged, friendless, homeless and unhappy; now see me, I am contented; have a good conscience and everything I need. Say! Why don't you imagine yourself into it then too? It's so e-a-s-y, and it's certainy better. Just imagine it, why don't you?" [1]
Evidence for "transsubjectivity," from Ninian Smart [2]. Smart suggest these three principles for validating the transsubjectivity of a Connection Experience, i.e., there is contact with some reality transcendent of the material world.
1) the "percipient" believes its transcendent 2) not a fair presumption that such a perception is caused by other factors like epilepsy, migrain 3) not caused by something prio spatio-temporal events
