Notes
Two forms of toxic needs
- Needs that emerge from damage done during the Toxic Socialization Process
- Essential needs that have been diverted towards Toxic Satisfaction
Toxic needs are not natural needs. They do not exist unless the Physical Unit experiences chronic trauma and assault or toxic forms of manipulation. For example, we have no need for escape when our environments are calm, nurturing, and non-toxic.
When damage is severe and assault, neglect, chaos, etc. (i.e. Toxic Socialization) are chronic and long-term, toxic needs (and essential needs) becoming increasingly pathological. A house is not a toxic need unless you have to have a mansion just to assuage your self-esteem, dominate others. Healing and soothing are only toxic because they emerge out of toxicity and damage. Awareness Reduction, the need for escape, the need for control, the submission that reduces assault, and the domination (patriarchal, economic, political, etc.) that is a feature of advanced Sociopathology, represent increasingly pathological toxic needs.
Toxic needs include the need for
- Healing - because as soon as you are injured, your body has a need to heal.
- Soothing - because soothing, touch, caress, and care facilitates and speeds healing.
- Disconnection/Awareness Reduction (see ARMs) - We need to reduce awareness to reduce the pain and anguish.
- Escape - We need to escape to escape the pain.
- Domination and Control (of the environment and others)
- Submission[1]. We submit to those with more power because they ostensibly protect us, and because submission ends the assault.
- Death -
Toxic needs are particularly susceptible to marketer's manipulation.
