Peace be upon them is a phrase of respect and a statement of intention designed to help elevate and protect a Prophet. It can be used to refer specifically to the Islamic prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him), to another individual prophet like Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) or to the entire collection of recognized prophets (peace be upon them).
