The Mountain is a metaphor for spiritual attainment. One "climbs the mountain" in pursuit of some spiritual goal. The metaphor points to the obstacles and challenges in the way of attaining spiritual goals.
On the Lightning Path we might say that you climb the mountain in order to achieve re-Connection with Consciousness and the Awakening, Activation, and Ascension that coincided with improving Connection. Other religious and spiritual traditions describe similar goals, but in different terms. A list of syncretic terms is provided below.
