A Quanta is a discrete packet of energy.

A Quantum boundary is a barrier through which once must apply Energy to pass.

In atomic physics Quantum Boundaries exist between Orbital Levels. In order for an electron to elevate to the next Orbital Level (also Quantum Level), energy must be added to the electron. When sufficient quanta of energy have been added, usually in the form of a photon, electrons pierce the barrier and ascend to the next orbital level. When this happens Electron Configuration changes, Nuclear Transmutation occurs, and new Elements are formed.
