An Event Association is a genetically coded associations between a traumatic/threatening event, and an emotional reaction to that event. If you were ever attacked by a tiger, or a shark, there is an event association stamped into your brain, and coded into your genetics, that will invoke fear and flight responses whenever you approach a reality that approximates the original event, for example if you move to go swim in the ocean
Notes
Note, the approach can be physical, as when you walk along the shore of the ocean, or it can be psychological, as when you get anxious even thinking about swimming in the ocean water.
The ability of the physical unit to stamp event associations is a survival feature of the unit. Event associations steer individuals and ancestors away from situations likely to threaten the survival of the physical unit.
