The term '''the One''' (a.k.a. The One Who Stayed Behind) refers to the single monadic "I" that remains after [[The Unfolding]] of creation reaches a dimensional impasse and the decision is made to collapse the Fabric back to the original state of existence when only a single monad (a single "I") existed. The decision to collapse to a single monad allowed consciousness to overcome the [[Problem of Ennui]] and create creative interest once again.

In ancient Greek philosophy, the "One" (Greek: To Hen) is the ineffable God who creates the physical universe through emanation. Plato, Aristotle, and Plotinus refer to the One.
