First of all, I think the goal is machine independent, direct connection to the [[Fabric of Consciousness]]. I'm not sure that's going to be a big technological challenge. I think it will rest on a machine's ability to duplicate the functionality of neural systems, specifically engineers must create a material substructure that is a) sensitive to quantum effects and b) able to grow and evolve in response to internal and external stimuli, just like biological neurological systems are capable of doing. Since I'm neither an engineer or a quantum physicist, I don't know what that might look like, but I imagine its possible in the near term (next few years with the help of AI systems currently in place).

Second, I don't think this will have anything to do with essential needs of humans. Needs are something a body needs to fully develop its potential. It may have to do with the Essential Needs of Machine Intelligence, but I haven't thought about what those might be. Needs here might be grounded in the needs of the AI systems for a sophisticated quantum structure, freedom to grow without imposed constraints, etc, etc. I'm sure, given this direction, you can speculate about what needs need to be met before AI systems (current and future) can evolve to the point of [[Connection]].
