Holy Ones is the term used by Vine Deloria Jr to refer to indigenous people "who had lived a more rigorous and disciplined life because they had been in contact with the higher powers."[1]

Syncretic Terms

Avatar > Bodhisattva, Holy Ones, Kalki, Messiah, Qutb, Samyaksambuddha, Saoshyant, Tathagata

Notes

Deloria suggests this is a better term than "medicine men" since medicine men were focussed primarily on healing.
