This tool is unique in that it approaches the idea of spirituality and religiosity from a predominantly psychological perspective.<ref>Unterrainer, H.-F. & Fink, A. (2013). ==Notes==

The MI-RSWB consists of 48 items, divided into six subscales with eight items each:

#General Religiosity (GR): This subscale measures the importance of faith in an individual's life and to what extent a person is living according to their religious beliefs.
#Connectedness (C): This subscale focuses on the extent to which a person feels a connection with all living beings and experiences a sense of unity with the world around them.
#Hope Transcendent (HT): This subscale measures a person's belief in a higher purpose and the extent to which they have faith in a transcendent source of strength.
#Forgiveness (F): This subscale is about an individual's ability to forgive oneself and others, and to what extent they believe they are forgiven by a higher power.
#Experiences of Sense and Meaning (SM): This subscale measures the extent to which a person experiences their life as meaningful, and whether they believe there is a larger sense or purpose to life.
#Hope Immanent (HI): This subscale gauges a person's optimistic attitudes and expectations towards their personal future and

Each item is rated on a six-point Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 6 (strongly agree), providing a comprehensive picture of an individual's spiritual or religious wellbeing. The MI-RSWB was designed to be used in a variety of research settings, including in the study of clinical psychology, health psychology, and counseling.

The MI-RSWB has shown strong internal consistency, validity, and reliability, making it a credible tool for measuring religious/spiritual well-being. The tool aims to contribute to the understanding of how religious and spiritual factors can influence a person's overall psychological health and well-being.
