			In this section, Bucke tries to describe/sort out the nature of [[Cosmic Consciousness]]. He points out some syncretic terms, notes that the experience is not consistent, with some appearing to be more like Gods, and some changed not so much. Rather than focus, as appropriate, on toxic environments and differential damage to the [[Physical Unit]], he explains this inconsistency in personal biographical terms, citing differences in intellectual ability, moral and spiritual elevation, character, etc., blah blah blah). In other words, he blames the victims for their inability to connect, or for their inability to attain strong connection.

			There is also some description of the psychology of the event, i.e., the self-doubt that can initially occur. He also defends CC as not insanity because it is grounded, highly moral, and those who have it exhibit self-restraint and not impulsivity, as one would expect with "mad" folk.

			He finds "proof" of the existence of CC in the fact that many people down through the ages have reported it, and their reports or more or less consistent.

			He points out, in a slightly moralistic way, that to "enter into Cosmic Consciousness" one must "belong...to the top layer of the world..." He suggests an individual must be healthy, have an exalted moral nature (we would say the individual must be [[Alignment\|aligned]]), have a warm heart (be compassionate), strong, and have earnest religious feeling.
