==Notes==

The [[Lighting Path Workbooks]] are an attempt to provide a comprehensive, grounded, and modern set of healing and connection manuals.

In the history of this planet, many people from many different spiritual traditions have attempted to provide connection manuals

Connection manuals are a recognized thing in the spiritual literature of this world. When introducing the [[Crest-Jewel of Wisdom]], an early Vedic connection manual by Śankarâchârya, Charles Johnston notes he wrote a series of "preparatory works, of catechisms and manuals" designed to make "smooth the path of those who would take the first steps on the path of wisdom." <ref>Sankaracharya. The Crest-Jewel of Wisdom and Other Writings of Sankaracharya. Translated by Charles Johnston. Kindle Edition. 1999: Theosophical University Press, 1946. p. 5 https://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/crest/crest-1.htm.</ref>

Charles notes "the manuals and catechisms for learners, are complete and perfect. They really teach, quite plainly and lucidly, the first steps on the path of wisdom; they point out, with clear insistence, the qualities that are necessary to make these first steps fruitful."<ref>Sankaracharya. This phrase is used to describe the tortuous correspondences, arbitrary associations, and toxic grammatical complexity used by some writers to obscure truth, divert attention, hide their own ignorance, and bolster their own ego. EPMO is common in esoteric and scientific writing but can be found anywhere ideology, ignorance, and damaged ego abound.
==Notes==

The absence of EPMO is a requirement of an accessible an [[Authentic Spirituality|authentic spirituality]].<ref>Sosteric. Rocket Scientists’ Guide to Authentic Spirituality. St. Albert, Alberta: Lightning Path Press, 2019. https://press.lightningpath.org/product/rocket-scientists-guide-authentic-spirituality/.</ref>

'''Egotistical, polysyllabic, multi-metaphoric obfuscation''' (EPMO), a.k.a. '''Rocket Speak''' often occurs when a diminished and damaged ego uses unnecessary linguistic or metaphoric puffery to convey to others that it is superior in some way, or to convey the impression that it understands something that it does not. You often find EPMO in literary, academic, and/or intellectual circles. Linguistic or Literary EPMO is more common than metaphoric or visual EPMO, though metaphoric EPMO does exist, especially in artistic and/or esoteric circles.

The only known cure for EPMO is a good [[Fish Slap|slap in the face with a fish]]. Failing that, a sound giggle and some childish finger pointing often does the trick. If you are a victim of EPMO, you can self-treat by a) learning to not take yourself so seriously and b) repeating the following magical invocation, several times, with deep intonation, bended head, and downcast eyes: “Huck mir nisht a chynick, and I don’t mean efsher.”

Is "speaking on tongue" a Christian form of EPMO? In [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians+14&version=NIV 1 Corinthians 14], the early Christian preachers advocate against the use of EPMO.

Aleister Crowley is the king of EPMO. Jordan Peterson the queen.

Zenith experiences are pleasant moments of unity, oneness, peace, bliss, enlightenment, [[realization]], etc., caused when [[Consciousness]] descends into a [[Physical Unit]] that is healthy, prepared, and embedded in a supportive milieu (Sosteric, SA1).

A zenith experience may occur spontaneously as is the case, for example, when somebody is walking through the forest and they suddenly experience feelings of unity or oneness), or it can be induced, as for example when the [[Bodily Ego]] is intentionally suppressed through meditational practices (e.g. [[Transcendental Meditation]]) or nutritional supplementation (i.e. ingestion of [[Connection Supplements]].)

A Zenith experience is the opposite of a [[Nadir Experience]].

Zenith experiences may be distinguished along a ''continuum of duration and intensity''. The following is a tentative ordering from least to most intense.

* [[Glimpse]]
'''Distraction''' is an [[Awareness Reduction Mechanisms]]] that the [[Bodily Ego]] uses to avoid uncomfortable confrontations with reality. Distraction involves distracting one's awareness by engaging in distracting activities.
==Notes==

For example, getting into a running club and spending all your time away from family in order to avoid the divert and distract from the toxicities/issues at home.

Distraction is a form of Isolation or, as we say on the LP, Informational Positioning. Isolation or informational positioning is a cognitive process involving the creation of a gap between an unpleasant or threatening cognition or memory, and other thoughts, feelings, and anything that can trigger a memory. Isolation works with the associative pathways of memory. We remember “less often” by minimizing associative connections.

Isolation is in operation when a person who begins a train of thought suddenly switches gears because the thoughts are getting to “close” and potentially triggering memories of, for example, sexual assault. For example, an individual may start off thinking about a childhood trip, but suddenly change the subject when the recall of that trip gets too close to a painful memory. An individual may also avoid thinking about certain topics, and avoid certain situations or people in their life, as way to avoid associations that might trigger painful trauma or disjuncture.

"According to the Sânkhya philosophy, nature is composed of three forces called, in Sanskrit, Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. These as manifested in the physical world are what we may call equilibrium, activity, and inertness. ==The Phenomenology of Connection==

Connection may be identified by its phenomenology. When one connects, one feels like they have moved into an abnormal (not normal) space. They feel connected to "something more."

'''Freeman''' suggests that "mystical experience entails not only an encounter with the other... but also the sense that "this encountered Other is larger than me, or comes 'before' me, that it embodies a dimension of reality that is ''prior'' to the more mundane spheres ordinarily inhabited."<ref>Freeman, M. “The Priority of the Other: Mysticism’s Challenge to the Legacy of the Self.” In Mysticism: A Variety of Psychological Perspectives, edited by Jacob A. Belzen and Antoon Geels, 213–34. New York: Rodopi, 2003. p. 213.</ref>

Hood <ref>Ralph W. Hood, Jr. “Differential Triggering of Mystical Experience as a Function of Self Actualization.” Review of Religious Research 18, no. 3 (1977): 264. https://doi.org/10.2307/3510214.</ref> provides a classification of mystical triggers, including natural triggers (all aspects of nature), sexual triggers (sexual intercourse, note he restricts this to "heterosexual" intercourse), drug triggers, religious triggers (religious settings and religious activities, rituals, and prayer).

== Theoretical Approaches ==
There are three general approaches to the study of connection experience, an '''reductionist approach,''' an '''adaptive approach,''' and a '''transformative approach.'''

The reductionist approach reduces mysticism, often in a normative and dismissive manner, to neurological/psychoanalytic phenomenon (i.e. an infantile state).

The adaptive approach frames mysticisms as healing enterprise.

The transformative approach frames mysticism as capable of leading to profound personal, psychological, sociological, political transformations. <ref>Parsons, William B. ''The Enigma of the Oceanic Feeling: Revisioning the Psychoanalytic Theory of Mysticism.'' Cambridge, MA: Oxford University Press, 1999. <nowiki>https://amzn.to/2Tq1qsl</nowiki>.</ref>
==Notes==

additional notes on the [https://spiritwiki.lightningpath.org/index.php/Talk:Connection Discussion Page]

Grof speaks of mystical experiences as "connection with the spiritual realm..." <ref>Grof, S. (1999). Technologies of the Sacred—Part Two. ''The International Journal of Humanities and Peace'', ''15''(1), 93–96. p. 93. https://www.lightningpath.org/readings/Technologies_of_the_sacred_II.pdf</ref>

'''The benefits of connection:''' "...indigenous shamans worldwide know that spirit power is basic to one’s health, survival, and ability to heal others. Without this power, one is not resistant to illness or misfortune." <ref>Harner, Michael. Cave and Cosmos: Shamanic Encounters with Another Reality. Berkeley, California: North Atlantic Books, 2013.</ref>

"Religious experience, the mystic experience, the peak experience, and all paranormal experiences may have one thing in common. They are the encounters with consciousness ''as such...''"<ref>Ramakrishna, K. Rao. “Some Reflections on Religion and Anomalies of Consciousness.” In Body, Mind, Spirit, 68–82. Charlottesville, VA: Hampton Roads, 1997. p. 80</ref>

Stace called mystical experience "a psychological fact of which there is abundant evidence." He further went on to say that, "To deny or doubt that it exists as a psychological fact is not a reputable opinion. It is ignorance and "very stupid." <Ref>Stace, Walter Terence. Mysticism and Philosophy.
William Harmless in his study, Mystics (2008), quotes Gerson: “The saints use various names to describe these interior forms of experiential knowledge of God … They speak of contemplation, ecstasy, rapture, liquefaction, transformation, union, exultation. They talk of a jubilation beyond the spirit, of being taken into a divine darkness, of tasting God, of embracing the bridegroom, of kissing him, of being born of God, of obeying his word, of being brought into the divine cellars, of being drunk in a torrent of delight, of running into an odor of his perfumes, of hearing his voice, and entering into the bedroom, and of finding sleep and rest in peace in him”.<Ref>Harmless, William. Mystics. New York: Oxford University Press, 2008. p. 5</ref>

The Western Catholic church has worked hard to contain connection within cloistered monastic walls, but according to Lossky,<ref>Lossky, Vladimir. The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church. New York: St. Vladimir’s Seminary Press, 2002.</ref> mysticism and mystical experience, specifically union with God, has remained a more "in the open" goal of the Church, something even layman could achieve (p. 19).

Connection is important because, as William James says, they are the foundation from which religion emerges. As Bender notes, practitioners reassert and reinforce this basic "narrative," when they assert that is religious experience which drives them forward towards spiritual practice. <ref>Bender, Courtney. The New Metaphysicals: Spirituality and the American Religious Imagination. Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2010.</ref>

John W. Nevin felt that Christianity was "grounded in the living union of the believer with the person of Christ." <ref>Quoted in Hewitt, Glenn A. Regeneration and Morality: A Study of Charles Finney, Charles Hodge, John W. Nevin, and Horace Bushnell. New York: Carlson Publishing, 1991.p. 101. </ref>

Connection is often (always?) initiated via an [[Intent to Connect]] of some sort.

Connection experiences are "pleasing in and of themselves, but they also have been said to eventuate in long term positive changes, such as increased creativity and insight; improved intellectual, emotional, perceptual, and physical functioning; a holistic perception of the world and the self; a sense of objective understanding and wisdom; a naturally arising moral and ethical sense; and an experience of inner peace and freedom" <ref>Havens, R. A. “Approaching Cosmic Consciousnes via Hypnosis.” Journal of Humanistic Psychology 22, no. 1 (1982): 105–16.</ref>

St. Teresa of Avila, a medieval mystic Christian Nun, felt that everybody could have mystical experiences. <ref>St. Teresa of Avila. Interior Castle. Kindle. New York: Dover Publications, 2007. https://amzn.to/2GpC7NG.</ref> Underhill notes everybody is capable of connection: "It is a natural human activity" requiring no special talent or ability.<ref>Underhill, Evelyn. Mysticism: A Study in the Nature and Development of Spiritual Consciousness. New York: Dover Publications, 2002. https://amzn.to/2C91xNY.</ref> [[Contemplative Consciousness]]

Connection leads to expansion of Consciousness into the body, i.e., increased [[Consciousness Quotient]].

The [[LP]] [[Connection Framework]] provides guidance on how to prepare for and facilitate stronger Connection.

[[Awakening]] and improvements in [[Acknowledgment]], [[Atonement]], [[Alignment]], [[Activation]], and [[Ascension]] facilitate stronger connection.

Connections may be characterized along five [[Connection Axes]].

Connection may be facilitated with [[Connection Supplements]] (where legal in your area) and [[Connection Practices]]

The opposite of Connection is [[Disconnection]]. [[Connection Supplements]] enable controlled and metered reconnection.

Think of connection in internet terms. Like your computer/device connects to a website '''server,'' so your little self connects to your [[Self]], [[Highest Self]], or some other monadic location in [The Fabric of Consciousness]]. Make sure you have the right "web" address before you connect.

Connection is the ostensible and overt goal of [[Authentic Spirituality]].

The ability to connect with Consciousness is a natural ability of the [[Physical Unit]]. It is facilitated via proper [[Development]] of the [[Physical Unit]], or when the physical unit is damaged, via the use of [[Connection Supplements]] designed to overcome the psychological and emotional damage of [[Toxic Socialization]]. In this regard, Huxley notes that the ability to connect (what he calls mystical union) is "as all the evidence seems to show, a state which man [sic], as man [sic], has always had it in his power to realize..." ([[PP]]). Further [[Connection]] (what Huxley refers to as "direct awareness of the 'eternally complete consciousness,') is a "possibility occasionally actualized by some human beings at almost any stage of their own personal development, from childhood to old age, and at any period of the race’s history."

Proper development of the physical unit includes a [[Healthy Socialization|socialization]] process, satisfies all [[Seven Essential Needs]], and that teaches, encourages, and facilitates [[Right Action]], [[Right Thought]], and [[Right Environment]].

Connection is thwarted by [[Wrong Thought]], [[Wrong Action]], and [[Wrong Environment]], all of which lead to [[Disjuncture]], [[Disconnection]], and [[Disconnection Pathology]].

Connection may be visually represented with the [[Water Glass Metaphor]].

Some think that connection is the root of all(!) great scientific discoveries. Evidence appears to exist, but is largely forgotten these days.

<blockquote>
Altered states of consciousness have been responsible for all great successful scientific discoveries. Science really has its genesis in the phenomenon of intimate, immediate and even normally inaccessible states of consciousness. Nikola Tesla's induction motor was born early in this century out of a spontaneous vision of incredible exactitude. F. A. Kekule was similarly struck in his discovery of the idea of the benzene ring, which began modern organic chemistry. So much so that he published an account of his ouroboros-type revelation in the 1890 proceedings of the German Chemical Society, ending with the memorable sentences: “As though from a flash of lightning I awoke [and] occupied the rest of the night in working the consequences of the hypothesis .... Let us learn. to dream gentlemen."

Henri Poincare similarly left us a record of his ultraconscious finding of automorphic functions-s0 important in modern mathematics. The discovery of the laster by an American scientist in a visionary experience in a park at dawn is a well-known .twentieth century addition to the evidence.

Finally, the quantum physicist Max Born, in a letter of his of 1967, wrote that he had experienced during his lifetime "perhaps a dozen flashes of ideas which proved to lead to scientifically significant...results.” He compared the quality of his experience: to that of Kekule and added that ".I know for certain that in the few cases where I have discovered something of importance it came like a flash, and a minute before I knew nothing of it” <ref>Muses, Charles, and Arthur M Young, eds. Consciousness and Reality: The Human Pivot Point. New York: Discus Books, 1972. p. 89</ref>
==List of [[Masonic Tarot]] Archetypes related to the Fool in School [[Archetype Constellation]]==

The Masonic Tarot implements the Fool in School archetype in several of its archetype cards. An impartial list is provided below.

[[Fool in School]] > {{#ask:[[Is related to::Fool in School]]}}

==Notes==

The fool in school archetype is often expressed in a way that suggests that the suffering and struggle we face is part of the "lesson plan," that struggle and strife makes us "stronger," and that pain and suffering makes us who are are.

By suggesting you are a fool in school and that suffering and struggle are part of what here to learn a cosmic/evolutionary lesson, and by suggesting that these "lessons" often involve pain and suffering, the Fool in school constellation encourages servitude, passivity and the acceptance of the violence and toxicity that damages, diminishes, and disconnects you.

It also '''blames the victim''' and shift blame from the actual culprits, elites. "...the level of stress, violence, fear, and disconnect with Nature in the global society rises in direct proportion to a fall in the collective level of awareness. As the displaced spiritual hunger seeks satisfaction in the lesser gods of a materialist, consumer culture the movement away from self-discovery—the source of true happiness—causes negative vibrations to invade the social, economic and planetary networks of relationships."<ref>Yastion, Lyla. ''Pause Now: Handbook for a Spiritual Revolution''. Lanham, Maryland: Hamilton Books, 2009. p. 3.</ref>

'''In some cases, it is explicitly stated that trauma contains spiritual lessons.''' "The spiritual lessons held within such traumatic experiences are not always easy to accept; but if we are fortunate enough to wake up to the lesson that a trauma teaches, and heed its wisdom, we are blessed. By assenting to the event we open ourselves to the support of the universe. "<ref>Yastion, Lyla. ''Pause Now: Handbook for a Spiritual Revolution''. Lanham, Maryland: Hamilton Books, 2009. p. xv.</ref> I gotta say, this is fucking stupid and incredibly ignorant of the actual deleterious impact of various forms of trauma of the individual.

Why must you learn lessons? Because you are broken and bad. "He has been healed of the disorders of the soul which are called covetousness, envy, vanity and thirst for power. "<ref>Haich, Elisabeth. The Wisdom of Tarot. London: Unwin Paperbacks, 1985. p. 165.</ref>

The Fool in School archetypal constellation is implemented most precisely in the [[Masonic Tarot]], which has a literal fool in school card.

The western Tarot is often presented as a tool that can help the "fool" successfully navigate life's lessons. For example, Rachel Pollack says "Today, we see the Tarot as a kind of path, a way to personal growth through understanding of ourselves and life. To some the Tarot's origin remains a vital question; for others it only matters that meanings have accrued to the cards over the years."<ref>Pollack, Rachel. Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom. Harper Collins, 1980. p. 6.</ref>

"A God" is not the universal deity, but only a spark from the one ocean of Divine Fire. Our God within us, or "our Father in Secret" is what we call the "HIGHER SELF," Atma. Our incarnating Ego was a God in its origin, as were all the primeval emanations of the One Unknown Principle.But since its "fall into Matter," having to incarnate throughout the cycle, in succession, from first to last, it is no longer a free and happy god, but a poor pilgrim on his way to regain that which he has lost. "<ref>Blavatsky, H. P. The Key to Theosophy: A Clear Exposition Based on the Wisdom Religion of All Ages. Theosophical University Press, 1889.</ref>"

===Examples===

==== Sadhguru ====
Sadhguru <ref>Sadhguru. ''Karma: A Yogi’s Guide to Crafting Your Destiny''. New York: Harmony, 2021.</ref> provides a subtle twist. In his conceptualization, the horrors we experience, are entirely the result of our karma, which we must learn to control and clear. For Sadguru, karma is the accretion of actions at the level of body, mind, and energy. Our actions determine our karma. Note, he explicitly answers several key [[Big Questions]] with the ideology of karma, suggesting that it is the "only logic that explains the seeming arbitrariness of the world we live in."<blockquote>How else do we understand the pervasiveness of human anguish? How do we explain the horrors of war and terminal illness, the mute agony on the faces of starving children and traumatized prisoners? Moreover, how do we answer these ancient questions: Why do terrible things happen to good people? Why does fortune so often favor those who seem cruel or unkind or the morally compromised? Why do life circumstances seem so random and capricious? Why does it feel sometimes that God—if one exists—must be playing marbles with the world? Why does the universe so often seem such a hostile, lawless, ungoverned place? Perhaps no other word answers that bewildered human Why? as well as karma has. <ref>Sadhguru. ''Karma: A Yogi’s Guide to Crafting Your Destiny''. New York: Harmony, 2021.</ref></blockquote>The ideological character of this answer can be clearly exposed of we offer a different explanation, which is that war, human anguish, starving children, traumatized prisoners are the actions of [[Accumulating Class]] as they work to preserve, reproduce, and enhance their power and privilege.

As quoted in <ref>Baier, Karl. “Esotericism.” In Blackwell Companion to the Study of Religion, edited by Robert A Segal and Nickolas P. Roubekas. Blackwell, 2021. p. 234.</ref>, Antoine Faivre points out that western Esotericists "conceive themselves as being on a pilgrimage to a higher plane of existence and an illuminated knowledge that can only be gained if the whole person is transformed." This is a classic "Fool in School" formation.

Hanegraaff points out that '''Platonism''' has two streams, one rooted in traditional Greek philosophy and other ''[[Platonic Orientalism]]'' which was grounded in Persian (think Zoroastrianism<ref>Sosteric, Mike. “From Zoroaster to Star Wars, Jesus to Marx: The Art, Science, and Technology of Human Manipulation,” Unpublished. <nowiki>https://www.academia.edu/34504691</nowiki>.</ref>) and Egyptian traditions. <ref>Hanegraaff, Wouter J. ''Western Esotericism: A Guide for the Perplexed''. London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2013.</ref> The oriental frame has a concern with salvational gnōsis <ref>Hanegraaff, Wouter J. ''Western Esotericism: A Guide for the Perplexed''. London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2013. p. 18.</ref>

Western '''Hermeticism''', a product of pagan Egyptian Hellenism, is also steeped in notions of salvational gnosis which have as a goal religious salvation. "The Hermetic devotee must transcend mere rational understanding and worldly attachments, to find salvation and ultimate release through being reborn – quite literally – in a spiritual body of immaterial light. This process of liberation and transformation culminates in spiritual ascent and, finally, blissful unity with the supreme powers of divine Light. "<ref>Hanegraaff, Wouter J. ''Western Esotericism: A Guide for the Perplexed''. London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2013. p. 18.</ref>

Gnosticism

"We are told by the wise that the earth plane, our home, is a kind of school where human beings are invited to learn that they are spiritual beings with an inherited propensity for enlightenment as strong as the urge of plant leaves to seek the sun. Here, in the spiritual school of the material world, humans have the opportunity to realize the sun of their true self. The world provides a learning space, a playground, wherein the seeker is guided through stages of an interior reconfiguration of energy."<ref>Yastion, Lyla. ''Pause Now: Handbook for a Spiritual Revolution''. Lanham, Maryland: Hamilton Books, 2009.</ref>

"All suffering prepares the soul for vision." Martin Buber <ref>In Dossey. Recovering the Soul: A Scientific and Spiritual Search. Toronto: Bantam Books, 1989. p. 17</ref>

A "journey" through life. A journey to enlightenment. The key figure in a "deep spiritual journey"
<ref>Pollack, Rachel. Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom. Harper Collins, 1980. p. 155.</ref> A "journey in consciousness." (p. x). Through "experience" ... "we and the universe become one." (p. 110).

"He continues his inner struggle and climbs ever higher in his consciousness on the great Jacob's ladder. Fate helps him by giving him experiences and trials which bring him increasingly closer to himself, no matter how much these trials may cause him suffering and pain. " <ref>Haich, Elisabeth. The Wisdom of Tarot. London: Unwin Paperbacks, 1985. p. 165.</ref>

The notion that we are here to learn life lessons is a prevalent archetype in Western esotericism. "...perfection is indeed the goal of every human life but that it may take many lifetimes to achieve...Failing to reach full realization in this life doesn't damn you to perdition; it simply means you'll have to come back again and again until you get it right."<ref>Smoley, Richard, and Jay Kinney. Hidden Wisdom: A Guide to Western Inner Traditions. Illinois: Quest Books, 2006.</ref>

In the Orphic Mysteries, the "soul is therefore a fallen angel doing penance for her sins. Her ultimate aim is to be released from her chains, and recover the inheritance she has lost. How are the prison-bars to be removed? As we lost our freedom through sin, so we cannot hope to regain it until the stain is purged away. In Orphic language, the soul must be made pure."<ref>Adam, James. The Religious Teachers of Greece. Gifford Lectures. New Jersey: Reference Book Publishers, 1965. https://www.giffordlectures.org/books/religious-teachers-greece.</ref>. See also [[Purification]]

In the cartoon series, The Last Airbender, season one episode 20 (5:35), the fire bender Zuko expresses the Hero's archetype/fool in school mythology when he says, "I've always had to struggle and fight and that's made me strong. It's made me who I am." With this turn of phrase, he justifies conflict and struggle, pain and suffering, as beneficial.

The song [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mil8F3qfLqk "Bruises"] by Train suggests that the "bruises" that result from damage and assault "Make for better conversation," and that we should embrace this damage and "not change a thing."

M. Night Shyamalan's 2016 movie "Split" is a subtle and sophisticated representation of the Fool in School archetype. In Shyamalan's movie, to gain your full evolutionary potential, you need to suffer and be "broken." The "broken" (i.e. those damaged by [[Toxic Socialization]] to the point of beastly violence) are the ones who are pure of heart. They have special powers that allow them to "be whatever they think themselves to be." The rest will "never realize their full potential" and are consequently "sacred food" for the more evolved ones. In this movie, Shylaman encourages acceptance of the notion that violence and hardship are the "lessons" that create better humans, not to mention the subtle justification for predatory behaviour.

You find statements supportive of this theme in places in the Christian Bible. "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." — St. Paul, Romans 5:3-4 (NIV)
Israel Regardie notes that his "middle way" is all about the development of the self. "It is the pursuit of this middle path which leads to self-conquest and the steady growth of the [[Golden Flower]], the wakening of the imprisoned soul within." <ref>Regardie, Israel. The Middle Pillar: The Balance Between Mind and Magic. St Paul, Minnesota: Llewellyn, 2004. p. 9.</ref>

The movie below is entitled [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120184/ The Sphere]. This film is a 1988 Spiritual Propaganda film that brilliantly conveys this old energy message to the comatose masses. In this movie, humans are
portrayed as incapable of handling spiritual power because they are simply too confused and violent. They end up wishing themselves back to sleep. Pathetic. I spit in the general direction of the writers and directors and actors who signed up for this trash.

Zen Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh: "My definition of the [[Pure Land]], or the Kingdom of God, is not a place where there is no suffering. So we need suffering in order to recognize happiness....Imagine a place where there is no suffering. Our children would have no chance to develop their understanding, to learn how to be compassionate. It is by touching suffering that one learns to understand and to be compassionate."<ref>McLeod, Melvin. The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh. '''Islam:''' The day of judgment "is a day on which Almighty God will judge His creatures according to their actions done in this life."<ref>Ali Shah Ikbal, Islamic Sufism (Tractus Books, 2000). p. 74.</ref> There are lots of passages in the Qu'ran referring, in a rather judgmental way to the day of Judgment.
Jerry's [[Connection Experience]], interpreted by him as a [[Conversion Experience]]

<blockquote class="quotation">
I prayed and then I stopped; I prayed again, and stopped; but still I continued kneeling. My knees were rooted to those cold stones. My eyes were closed, and my hands tightly clasped, and I was determined I would stay so till morning..." and then," said I to myself, "if I get no relief, I will never, never pray again"... All at once it seemed as if something supernatural was in my room. I was afraid to open my eyes. I was in an agony, and the sweat rolled off my face in great drops. Oh, how I longed for God's mercy! Just then, in the very height of my distress, it seemed as if a hand was laid upon my head, and these words came to me: "My son, thy sins, which are many, are forgiven." I do not know if I heard a voice, yet the words were distinctly spoken to my soul. Oh, the precious Christ! How plainly I saw him, lifted on the cross for my sins! What a thrill went through me....I paced up and down my cell. A heavenly light seemed to fill it; a softness and a perfume like the fragrance of sweetest flowers. I did not know if I was living or not." <ref>Offord, R.M. Deep Flow is one of several types of sub-transcendent Connection Experiences that Williams and Harvey identify as occurring in natural environments. These include [[Deep Flow]], [[Diminutive Experience]]s, [[Aesthetic Experience]]s, and [[Restorative Experience]]s

"I was in the forest for scienti¢c research, hiking. I was happy to be in the forest. I had the feeling that I was part of nature, and that I was experiencing life and nature in its purest form. I felt truly content. I felt I could stand there forever. I relaxed. I felt like lying down and going to sleep. I closed my eyes and listened to the forest. I was much more in tune with the world and life. I knew that there was much more to life than the everyday hustle and bustle of surviving."<ref>Williams, Kathryn, and David Harvey. “Transcendent Experience in Forest Environments.” Journal of Environmental Psychology 21, no. 3 (September 1, 2001): 249–60. https://doi.org/10.1006/jevp.2001.0204. p. 255. </ref>
==Notes==

The Water Glass Metaphor is an ideal representation of the process of spiritual awakening/connection, and a perfect way to explain to children and adults the goal of human [[Development]] which is the expansion/[[Descent of Consciousness]] into the body.

At conception, a drop of Consciousness is poured into the physical container. The container is gradually filled throughout pregnancy until sufficient Consciousness can be contained in the body to allow for birth. At birth, the water glass is partially filled, but gradually, as the child matures into adulthood, the glass is filled. How high the glass is filled depends in large measure on a non-toxic process, and proper on ongoing satisfaction of the [[Seven Essential Needs].

Toxic/violent environments (i.e. [[Toxic Socialization]] diminish the capacity of the physical unit to contain/connect with Consciousness.

The highest levels of Consciousness can only be attained when social, political, economic, and psychological conditions support that attainment. Currently, conditions on this earth DO NOT support high levels of Consciousness in the body.
==Notes==

Right Environment is one of the [[Three Rs of Alignment]], (the others being [[Right Thought]] and [[Right Action]]) that, when taken together, provide the foundations of [[Healing]] and [[Connection]]. Taken together, right thought, action, and environment constitute the LPs [[Alignment Rule Set]]
Taken together, [[Right Environment]], [[Right Thought]], and [[Right Action]] constitute the LPs [[Alignment Rule set]]

Right environments are important for both [[Healing]] and [[Connection]]. One can neither heal nor connect when coping with a toxic environment.

A right environment is an environment where all [[Seven Essential Needs]] are met. Notably, right environments are environments that are loving, nurturing, and free of violence, stress, and emotional/psychological pain.

Spiritual teachers [often] comment on the nature and establishment of right environment.

From the Christian Bible, Mathew 5: 21-22.

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Note that ''Raca'' is an Aramaic term for contempt.

So, why would Jesus admonish his followers against anger and name-calling? Because such behaviours are out of [[Alignment]] and lead to the hellish experience of [[Disconnection]]. Right environment is an environment free of all forms of violence, including verbal violence. Even the negative energy of the angry voice is condemened by Jesus Christ.

Because most environments are toxic, right environment often requires the establishment of a [[Cocooning| cocoon]], where we keep toxicity away.

51.222.253.9: Text replacement - "]]" to "
[["

The phrase '''Crown Activation''' refers to the ''activation'' of the [[Crown Chakra]] (i.e., the brain and central nervous system) of the Physical Unit.

Crown activation can be properly understood only when we consider the [[Physical Unit]] as a variable container for [[monad|monadic consciousness]]. Under "normal" (but what I would consider marginally pathological) conditions, only a small proportion of monadic consciousness "enters into" the physical vehicle. However, under certain circumstances the crown chakra (i.e., the CNS) may become receptive to monadic consciousness. In the context of enhanced receptivity, higher monadic consciousness may be "poured" into the physical container. The entrance of higher consciousness into the [[Physical Unit]] is the direct cause of crown activation and any neurological correlates which may be observed.

The receptivity of the physical unit to monadic consciousness varies. Receptivity of the physical unit to consciousness is high at birth. Under healthy conditions, this high level of receptivity will be nurtured throughout the developmental decades ultimately resulting in a properly matured physical unit with extremely high levels of spiritual, psychological, and physical health. Under unhealthy developmental conditions (currently the ''norm''), the high level of receptivity of the physical unit at birth is diminished and consciousness is blocked, more or less, out of the physical container.

Taking the perspective of a physical unit with diminished receptivity, and therefore lower levels of conscious activation, crown activation (more accurately remedial crown activation) can be intentionally induced (see, for example [[Entheogens]] and [[Crown Activators]]). In an physical unit with diminished receptivity, crown activation can also occur spontaneously as the result of '''expanding psychological health''' (perhaps as a result of therapeutic interventions designed to overcome spiritually pathological socialization processes). In this case we may talk about ''healthy activation.''

Crown activation in a unit with diminished sensitivity may also occur accidentally either because of serious prior damage to the personality structures of the physical unit (i.e., the ego), or as result of intense acute, or long term chronic, psychological or physical trauma (Laing, 1989; Grof and Grof, 1989). In this case we may speak of '''unhealthy activation''' or even pathological activation.

The study of the induced activation of the Crown Chakra is not unknown to western science. The formal inquiry into the synthetic or induced activation of the Crown Chakra began on [[Bicycle Day]] (April 19, 1943) when Dr. Albert Hofmann accidentally ingested 250 µg of LSD. The scientific study of crown activation, which blossomed in North America during the 1950s and 1960s, was cut short as a result of political concern.
==Notes==

"The concept of karma entered Hinduism through ancient non-Vedic sects such as Saivism and Bhagavatism and the old Samkhya school. Saivism recognized karma as one of the three impurities<ref> The three impurities are anava or egoism, karma or binding actions and maya or illusion</ref> responsible for the bondage of individual souls."<ref>V, Jayaram. “The Concept Of Karma In Hinduism.” Hinduwebsite.com. ====Vivekananda====

[[Swami Vivekananda]]: Defines karma as simply action and [[will]] ([[Force]] in other words). Here, karma becomes what you work for, what you accomplish through will and action.<ref>Vivekananda, Swami. "Karma in Its Effect on Character." ''Collected Works of Swami Vivekananda''. Vol. 5. 9 vols. As the Swami notes: "The word Karma is derived from the Sanskrit Kri, to do; all action is Karma. Technically, this word also means the effects of actions. In connection with metaphysics, it sometimes means the effects, of which our past actions were the causes."<ref>Vivekananda, Swami. "Karma in Its Effect on Character." ''Collected Works of Swami Vivekananda''. Vivekananda points out that action comes with consequences, one of which is that when one engages in bad actions or good actions, these bad actions or tendencies, habits, and instincts build up over time. To avoid behavioural, psychological, cognitive inertia, which can make adaptation and change difficult, avoid attachment. <ref> "Karma Yoga" to be found in Vivekananda, Swami. “Karma Yoga.” Collected Works of Swami Vivekananda. Vol. 1. 9 vols. Advaita Ashrama, 2016. https://www.holybooks.com/wp-content/uploads/SWAMI-VIVEKANANDA-COMPLETE-WORKS-Vol-1.pdf</ref>

According to Vivekananda, duty is an aspect of Karma. Vivekananda has an awesome philosophical discussion in the book Karma Yoga, but it can be a bit confusing. On the LP we see duty as merely the '''aligned responsibility to uplift creation'' (see the SW entry for [[Right Action]]). According to Vivekananda, "devotion to duty helps us in our spiritual progress." <ref> "Karma Yoga" to be found in Vivekananda, Swami. “Karma Yoga.” Collected Works of Swami Vivekananda. Vol. 1. 9 vols. Advaita Ashrama, 2016. https://www.holybooks.com/wp-content/uploads/SWAMI-VIVEKANANDA-COMPLETE-WORKS-Vol-1.pdf</ref> This is because duty is an aspect of [[Right Action]] which is itself a key component of [[Alignment]]

Later on it came to be used as an antidote to the fatalism of some early vedic thought where it came to be an iconic and ideological representation of humanity's free will and ability to choose. "According to them fate was a product of one's own actions and what might look like the intervention of chance in case of some individuals was actually a result of their previous actions done either in their present lives or in their previous ones."<ref>V, Jayaram. “The Concept Of Karma In Hinduism.” Hinduwebsite.com. Accessed October 1, 2021. https://hinduwebsite.com/conceptofkarma.asp</ref>

In the Vedas, karma may refer to the divine karma or the actions of God as the source of all creation, preservation, and destruction.

In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, karma indicates the personal consequences of good or bad actions."Accordingly as one behaves so does he become. The doer of good becomes good, the doer of evil becomes evil. One becomes virtuous by virtuous actions. Others become bad by bad actions." As such, karma is an admonishent to be aware of the short and long term consequences of your actions, and to recognize and take responsibility for them. <blockquote>Yagnavalkya said: 'Take my hand, my friend. We two alone shall know of this; let this question of ours not be (discussed) in public.' Then these two went out and argued, and what they said was karman (work), what they praised was karman, viz. that a man becomes good by good work, and bad by bad work. After that Garatkarava Artabhaga held his peace.<ref>https://www.hinduwebsite.com/sacredscripts/hinduism/upanishads/brihad.asp</ref> </blockquote>

In general usage, karma refers to the positive or negative consequences of actions.

Its ideological function is identified clearly here: "Today if there is one concept that is deeply ingrained in the consciousness of Hindus, and for that matter a vast number of Indians, and influences their thinking and actions so deeply, it is undoubtedly the concept of Karma. They may not think of it constantly while they perform their daily chores, but it is there, deep in their subconscious minds, like a self-regulating mechanism, influencing their lives and actions....Whether they are literate or illiterate, they honor it and respect it. It makes them feel responsible for their lives and accept their lot rather poignantly."<ref>V, Jayaram. “The Concept Of Karma In Hinduism.” Hinduwebsite.com. Accessed October 1, 2021. https://hinduwebsite.com/conceptofkarma.asp</ref>

===Ojibway notions of Karma===

"We believe in the circle of life. We believe that all return to its source; that both good and bad return to the place where they began. We believe that if we start a deed, after the fullness of time it will return to us, the source of the journey. If care is not used when the circle is begun, then the hurts along the way will be received in the end. Such is the belief of the true Ojibway."<ref>Ignatia Broker, [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0873511670/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0873511670&linkCode=as2&tag=lightningpa02-20&linkId=3e0c548e8c069ff4fd702aabae0f0214 Night Flying Woman: An Ojibway Narrative] (Minnesota: Minnesota Historial Society Press, 1983: p. 56)</ref>

A no-violence rule is different than non-violence. Non-violence or [[Ahimsa]] is a spiritual role that stipulates that you personally will not engage in violence. A no-violence rule stipulates not only that you will not perpetrate violence, but you will not allow others who do into your personal spaces.

Note, "punishments" are not allowed. A "punishment" is always an assault of some type. Punishment is just a delusional justification for perpetuating violence.

"The fourth subject—found only in about five of these treatises—is meaningfully different from the others: it describes an active procedure by which a person can ascend to the divine realms and reach the highest level, and even “face God in his glory.” This process of ascension is called in these texts, paradoxically, “descent to the chariot,” and the sages who do it are called ''yordey ha-merkavah'' (the descenders to the chariot). This practice is attributed in these texts to the two great sages of the early talmudic period, Rabbi Akibah and Rabbi Ishmael. Unlike the vast talmudic-midrashic literature and most of the Hekhalot and Merkavah treatises, these texts do not rely on expounding biblical verses (midrash), but relate direct, personal spiritual experiences. The claim for veracity does not rely on “the verse said,” as is usual in most Hebrew postbiblical literature, but on personal experience—“I saw,” “I heard,” “I envisioned.” They used terminology that is not found anywhere else, such as the term '''“hekhalot”''' in the plural, indicating the seven palaces or temples that are situated, one above the other and one inside the other in the seventh, highest heaven. The sages who overcome the many dangers on the elaborate way of ascension join with the angels in the celestial rituals of praise to God."<ref>Dan, Joseph. St. Avila notes that achieving discipline and alignment is a necessary step on the way to Union with God. "Yet, although the soul which reaches the Third Mansions may still fall back, it has attained a high standard of virtue. Controlled by discipline and penance and disposed to performing acts of charity toward others, it has acquired prudence and discretion and orders its life well." <ref>St. Teresa of Avila.
In Islam, charity is basically taxation of the rich.

"Every religion in the world has preached charity and the giving of alms, but it is only in Islamic Sufism that it has been made obligatory and binding upon all those who accept the Muslim faith. Here we have a brotherhood into which the rich man cannot enter unless and until he is willing to give part of his posessions for the support of the poorer members of the brotherhood. Everyone who possesses property above a certain limit is reuired to set apart a stated portion thereof. The portions so set apart should be collected by the State of the Imam..."<ref>Ali Shah Ikbal, Islamic Sufism (Tractus Books, 2000). p. 71.</ref>
