<blockquote class="definition">An Agent of Socialization is an individual or institution tasked with the replication of the Social Order. An Agent of Socialization is responsible for transferring the rules, expectations, norms, values, and folkways of a given social order. In advanced capitalist society, the principle agents of socialization include the family, the media, the school system (K12 and post secondary), religious and spiritual institutions, and peer groups. </blockquote>

Notes
It is important to note that our current social order is a tiered social order. It is based on authority, hierarchy, and the differential assignment of value to human individuals (i.e., some individuals like CEOs and presidents are worth more than others). Within this context, individuals receive differential socialization. This differential socialization is hidden in the curriculum of this planet's churches, schools, and family folkways. Those born into the lower tiers receive a socialization process geared to fitting them into the low level, wage based sectors of The System. Those born into the higher tiers receive specialized education designed to train them as low level managers, as corporate, or political rulers, etc.
Alienation is a term used by Karl Marx to describe an individual "disconnected" from their Species Being.

Notes
Mark did not believe in soul/spirit, so this concept is only an analogue of the LP concept of Disconnection. However, the concept does indicate Marx was thinking about disconnection and the dissatisfaction of needs.

Marxist alienation is loss of control, or powerlessness. Under The System, we lose control of what we do, how we work, and the products of this work. We also become disconnected from each other, our families and communities. We also become disconnected from our Species Being. As loss of control, alienation can be seen primarly as a failure to satisfy our Essential Needs for Esteem/Power. Alignment, and so on. In order to maintain itself, Captitalism diminishes the worker and removes from them all control of their life, their work, their product, and so forth.

Notes
Grof, after Jung and Otto, note that connection experiences often have the quality of Numinosity

The LP identifies several different Connection Experience Types and many different Connection Outcomes (see below). We also recommend analyzing Connection Experience along five Connection Axes.

Many consider Connection Experience to be the core of human spirituality, at the authentic root of every religion.
Ralph Waldo Emerson suggests "Every where the history of religion betrays a tendency to enthusiasm. The rapture of the Moravian and Quietist; the opening of the Internal sense of the Word, in the language of the New Jerusalem Church; the revival of the Calvinistic churches; the experiences of the Methodists, are varying forms of that shudder of awe and delight with which the individual soul always mingles with the universal soul."

R. A. Naulty: R. A. Naulty says "...there [is] something wonderful and powerful about them [connection experiences]" which places them beyond ordinary experience."

There is an issue with Nomenclature Confusion, many different names for the same experience. Linda Bourque and Kurt Back note there is "descriptive coincidence" between different types of transcendent/"aesthetic" and drug experiences and wonders if this "indicates there may be a complex of phenomena derived from different conditions which have a common expression and which may have a common function in human action."

Shear notes that there is considerable congruence between the connection experiences reported in various cultures and traditions concluding "we now, I think, have good reason to think that these experiential accounts reflect congruent experiences."

Connection experiences may be positive (i.e. zenith experiences) or negative (i.e. nadir experiences). Whether or not a connection experience is a zenith experience or a nadir experience depends in large measure on how the individual receives the revelation/expansion/insight from the experience. Even very glorious truths and insights can be experienced with terror if the physical unit is unprepared or if the thinking processes have been corrupted by indoctrination and Toxic Socialization.

Dreams can be connection events. "It is not denied...that a divine influx could take place in dreams..." (Jung, 1938: 22)

The Q-Scale may be used to estimate the intensity and quality of a connection event.

A connection event may occur spontaneously under conditions of relaxation and deep contentment. R. M. Bucke: "His mind...was calm and peaceful. He was in a state of quiet, almost passive enjoyment. All at once, without warning of any kind, he found himself wrapped around as it were by a flame-colored cloud."

A connection experience may be facilitated via Connection Technique, with a Connection Supplement, and by exploiting naturally occurring Connection Supplements.

Connection experiences may be understood neurologically, as what occurs when the Default Mode Network (otherwise known as the Bodily Ego of the individual's brain releases control and allows Consciousness to flow into the Physical Unit (Sosteric, SOA1). Release may occur naturally, under conditions of aligned safety, or it can be forced by exploiting powerful Connection Supplements.

TRIGGERS (old research) Hood provides a classification of triggers to mystical experience, including natural triggers (all aspects of nature), sexual triggers (sexual intercourse, note he restricts this to "heterosexual" intercourse), drug triggers, religious triggers (religious settings and religious activities, rituals, and prayer).

Triggers see Laski for additional conceptualization of triggers.

Hood notes that Self Actualized individuals are more likely to have a connection experience.

Taylor provides a list of triggers that include psychological turmoil (23.6%), nature (18%, meditation (13%) and watching or listening to arts performance (dance, music, play (13%). Notes the majority of triggers are NOT spiritual or religion (only 21.7% in his sample),and over 78% were spontaneous. Only 8% noted a felt encounter with God<blockquote>Nevertheless, the high incidence of 'spontaneous awakening experiences' strongly discredits the view that awakening experiences are only valid in a religious context. Surely awakening experiences become religious by virtue of post-experiential interpretation, through a conceptual application of a religious interpretation to a non-conceptual experience. As a consequence, the inclusion of such experiences under the umbrella term of 'religious experiences' (e.g., by Alister Hardy and the Religious Experience Unit) is surely misleading and inappropriate.</blockquote>

Causes
Neurological/Biological

Leary: "those aspects of the psychedelic experience which subjects report to be ineffable and ecstatically religious involve a direct awareness of the processes which physicists and biochemists and neurologists measure.". Also "We considered the hypothesis that the human being might
be able to become directly aware of energy exchanges and biological processes for which we now have no language and no perceptual training."

Incidence
67% of psychotherapists surveyed indicated having seen at least one client during a twelve month period who had reported a Connection Experience.

Sosteric suggests connection experiences are a ubiquitious feature of human existence and that they occur naturally in healthy individuals.

As researchers have found, a remarkably high number of scholars identify themselves as having spiritual orientations and aspirations.

Bart Ehrman mentions his "born again" experience, which occurs after "asking Jesus into my heart...

<blockquote "definition">Awareness Reduction Mechanisms are strategies that Bodily Ego can use to reduce awareness of itself, its physical and mental condition, the "room" that it's in, and the condition of its life. ARMS are typically deployed in order to reduce pain, suffering, guilt, shame, and the disjuncture that arises from internal misalignment or external violence and abuse.</blockquote>
: Awareness Reduction Mechanisms - reduce awareness to avoid perceiving disjunctive realities, or feeling disjunctive emotions.
: Awareness Redirection Mechanisms - redirect awareness to avoid perceiving disjunctive realities, or feeling disjunctive emotions
: Informational Positioning - repositioning reality. For example, converting the feelings to anger and resentment, and then blaming the victim. "Sure I beat you as a child, but so what. You're just too weak to handle it."
Connection Axes are aspects of a Connection Experience upon which an individual may evaluate and categorize a connection experience. The LP identifies five connection axes, these being quality, intensity duration, content, and outcome.
</blockquote>

Connection Axes
Connection : Connection Axes >

Notes
Connection quality refers to the general emotional tone of the CE. Quality may either be positive and uplifting, which is identified as a Zenith Experience, or negative and frightening, in which case it is a Nadir Experience.

Connection intensity refers to the intensity of the connection to consciousness. Connection intensity ranges from subtle and weak to transformative, enlightening, and overpowering.

Connection duration refers to the duration of the CE. The duration may range from only a second or two to several hours.

Connection content refers to the emotional and intellectual content of the experience. Content may be personal, social, political, economic, or even cosmic.

Harner identifies intensity and content as two connection axes. "The [SSC] has differing intensities, from light to deep, and can have different effects, particularly if a properly prepared powerful hallucinogen like ayahuasca (yagé) is used".

Charles Tart suggests that one analyzes "states of consciousness" (i.e. states of connection) not by looking at any particular type of content, behaviour, or physiological change, but "in terms of the overall patterning of psychological functioning." Tart notes that an "altered state of consciousness" is analogous to changing the program in a computer, different functionality, different inputs, different outputs.
LP Connection Framework >

Notes
<blockquote>For transgressions between a man and his fellow man, the Day of Atonement does not atone unless he has first reconciled his fellow man. Mishnah, Yoma, 8, 9 </blockquote>Atonement is a necessary prerequisite to awakening and activation. Until you have taken steps to clean up the messes you have made, guilt, shame, and fear will block forward movement and your progress on The Path will be limited difficult.

One of the key components of the Alcoholics Anonymous framework for cure and recovery is atonement, making amends and reparation for harms done to others. Atonement is Step eight of the AA Twelve Step program.

Note that atonement should not be confused with Punishment. Punishment is simply self-justified violence perpetrated against another living being. Atonement is clean up work pure and simple. In this context, you may atone for your sins in any way you choose, though ideally, you will work with (and for) those you have trespassed against. If this is not possible (e.g. if you are atoning for messes you have made in a past life, or if the people you have sinned against want nothing to do with you), then other actions are acceptable. Choose a course of action that you are comfortable with, even passionate about. For example, if you have polluted the environment, clean it up. If you have sexually molested children, work to heal and raise awareness. If you have engaged in the manipulation and centralization of energy (i.e. profit and accumulation), act to redistribute this energy to the people it belongs to. Let your consciousness be your guide here. The closer your actions are to the messes you created, the better you'll feel about the work you are doing.

Atonement was an important feature of peyote practice amongst the Winnebego. As one informant told Radin, "If a person who is truly repentant eats peyote for the first time, he does not suffer at all from its effects. But if an individual is bull-headed, does not believe in its virtue, he is likely to suffer a good deal."
List of the body's seven main Chakras
Notes
The body has thousands of chakra points all of which support the manifestation of the Physical Unit. Proper and unrestricted energy flow through the body's chakras is necessary for the healthy growth and maturation of the Physical Unit. If chakras are not functioning properly, and if steps are not taken to reinstate healthy flow, over time associated bodily organs and systems deteriorate and become functionally impaired. The study of improperly functioning chakras, and the diseases and declines associated with this dysfunction, is the study of Chakra Pathology.

Amongst the thousands of individual chakra points of the human physical body, there are seven large key chakras. The seven main chakras, from least dense to most dense, are:

*The Mind of God (a.k.a. the Crown Chakra)

*The Eye of God (a.k.a. the Third Eye Chakra)

*The Voice of God (a.k.a. the Throat Chakra)

*The Heart of God (a.k.a. the Heart Chakra)

*The Hand of God (a.k.a. the Solar Chakra)

*The Will of God (a.k.a. the Sacral Chakra)

*The Body of God (a.k.a. the Root Chakra)

Each of the body’s seven (7) main chakras represents a particular frequency of energy. The highest frequencies are arranged on top (i.e., the Lotus) followed in descending vibration through to the root.

The seven (7) frequencies of the human body (which may vary within certain limits, as required by the Resident Monadic Consciousness) provide a sort of scale (like the seven (7) notes of a major scale in music) which can be used to manifest the Physical Unit and express in the 3D world. The seven (7) chakras are referred to biblically as the seven (7) seals. When fully open and connected, chakras provide for the full and healthy maturation of the physical unit, and an incredible amount of creative control over physical matter.

In the case of the Physical Unit, there is a one to one correspondence between the chakras of the body, and the bodily systems which they help manifest. In order of descending vibration these are:

*The Thousand Petal Lotus of Spirit => Provides for the manifestation of bodily systems that support the expression of consciousness (i.e., brain and Central Nervous System)
*The Eye of God => Systems that support apprehension of the physical world (i.e., the five senses, the “sixth” sense).
*The Voice of God => Mechanisms that support spiritual expression (i.e., hands, voice, feet).
*The Heart of God => Mechanisms that support the physical life of the body (i.e., respiratory systems).
*The Hand of God => Mechanisms that support the exchange of energy with the environment (i.e., the stomach and digestive system).
*The Will of God => Mechanisms that support the reproduction of the physical unit (i.e., the sexual and reproductive organs), and the body's creative functions.
*The Body of God => Mechanisms that support the connection of the physical body with the ground of its existence (i.e., the body’s recycling systems).

Energy Flow
Energy flow through the chakras is determined either automatically by the current mental state of the physical unit or via willful intent and visualization. It is important to note that fears and misconceptions held in the consciousness of the physical unit can impede and reverse chakra flow. Willful intent and visualization can reintroduce full and healthy flow. However, if the physical unit harbors fears, misconceptions, or other forms of damage, flow will become immediately restricted. The challenge for the individual or practitioner involves identifying and clearing blockages and misconceptions to allow for continuous flow and, therefore, continuous development of the physical unit.

Notes
It is important to note that in no sense may these chakra energies be considered hierarchical. All chakras are activated as soon as the fetus takes on recognizable form and, under healthy developmental conditions, remain activated throughout the lifespan of the Physical Unit.

It is also important to understand that the Physical Unit, as vehicle for spirit, is sensitive to trauma and abuse. Extended physical, psychological, emotional, nutritional, and sociological trauma, as experienced as part of “normal” reality on this world, inevitably leads to the constriction of chakra energies. As noted above, the constriction of chakra energies leads to mental and physical distress, and eventual dysfunction and breakdown in the body’s systems. Chakra constriction may be instantly reversed by performing a chakra visualization such as the Great Invocation. However because of the manifestation that result from chakra activation and the subsequent reversal that may occur, personal clearing and healing is required to maintain chakra flow. See Endopsychoanalysis for a spiritually sophisticated approach to remediation of chakra damage.
Notes
A pedophile diverts the attention of a victim with candy.

When we divert and distract, we point attention away from the things we do not want to remember, and towards something entirely different. For example, kids or other adults may be talking about child abuse, but a guilty parent or childcare worker, in order to head off a conversation that might eventually lead to a discussion of their abusive practices, might distract with ice cream and cookies. Or, a father who sexually abuses his children might use distraction (i.e., a trip to Disney World) to shift attention from the behaviour, encourage his children to forget, and repress his awareness of the act. Similarly, a politician that points at the evil “over there” may be distracting from the evil that they do every day. Distraction is quite common, of course, and we are exposed to it every day.
Notes
<blockquote>The observations from the study of holotropic states confirm the ideas of C.G. Jung concerning spirituality. According to him, the experiences from deeper levels of the psyche (in my own terminology perinatal and transpersonal) have a certain quality that Jung called (after Rudolph Otto) 'numinosity'. The subjects having such experiences feel that they are encountering a dimension which is sacred, holy, radically different from everyday life, belonging to another order of reality. The term numinosity is relatively neutral and thus preferable to others, such as "religious". "mystical". "magical", "holy", "sacred", "occult". and others, which have often been used incorrectly and are easily misleading."</blockquote>
Internal Resistance arises as the result of damaged Bodily Ego (damaged self-esteem, self-doubt), Wrong Thought, and toxic environments that overwhelm one's ability to see a way forward. ===The Upanishads===

<blockquote>The Upanishads delineate three ordinary states of consciousness: waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep. Each is real, but each has a higher order of reality. For beyond these three, the Upanishads say, is the unitive state, called simply “the fourth”: turiya.[fn]MacPhail, Jean C. “A History of Consciousness in Vedanta: Footprints of the Atman,” 2022. https://www.academia.edu/83411689.[/fn] Entering this state is similar to waking up out of dream sleep: the individual passes from a lower level of reality to a higher one.

The sages called the dream of waking life - the dream of separate, merely physical existence – by a suggestive name, maya. In general use the word meant a kind of magic, the power of a god or sorcerer to make a thing appear to be something else. In the Gita, maya becomes the creative power of the Godhead, the primal creative energy that makes unity appear as the world of innumerable separate things with “name and form.”</blockquote>
Book of Power
Symbolizes initiation/initiation ceremony, the goal of which is to "die" to your old self and be reborn as a loyal peon of power.

Submission
"(Initiating Death leading to Mastership.) Whatever is dreamed to some purpose is set out on the 'Drawing Board' which no one approaches before he has entered the Middle Chamber. In the darkness where the whiteness of skulls and bones stands out, there all illusion vanishes and judgement is moulded. The Initiate dies to all that is factitious and prepares himself to receive Mastership." If you "accept" you are much less likey to resist

Recovery
“After a period of pause and reflection with the Hanged Man, the Death card symbolises the end of a major phase or aspect of your life that you realise is no longer serving you, opening up the possibility of something far more valuable and essential. You must close one door to open another. You need to put the past behind you and part ways, ready to embrace new opportunities and possibilities. It may be difficult to let go of the past, but you will soon see its importance and the promise of renewal and transformation.” (Biddy 2020)

Recovery
Individuation: "Contrary to what many people believe the card of Death does not actually refer to transformation. Rather, it shows us the precise moment at which we give up the old masks and allow the transformation to take place." Overcoming fear.

You find the concept of disjuncture in the world's literature.

Tolstoy discusses disjuncture as a "contradiction between our life and our christian conscience." His Chapter V provides an extended discussion of the painful disjuncture as caused by lack of Alignment.. See the Discussion page for more. "Our whole life is in flat contradiction with all we know, and with all we regard as necessary and right. This contradiction runs through everything, in economic life, in political life, and in international life.

One can be disconnected but not in a state of disjuncture. An individual can follow an Alignment Rule Set to maintain a semblance of Alignment.

A root, disjuncture is caused by Wrong Throught seeded by the Ideological Deceptions which are a part of the Toxic Socialization required for System Maintainence.

Many forms of disjuncture may impact the physical unit. There may be behavioral disjuncture (i.e. a disjuncture between how Consciousness wants the body to behave, and how the body actually behaves), cognitive disjuncture (i.e. a disjuncture between how Consciousness want the body to think and how the body actually things), and even emotional disjuncture. There more disjuncture there is the more likely a Dark Night becomes.

Disjuncture causes the Highest Self to use Steering Emotions (like guilt and shame) and other forms of communication in an attempt to steer the Physical Unit in a more aligned direction.
In severe cases of disjuncture, guilt, shame, and anxiety may give way to anguish even mental and emotional collapse (i.e. a so-called Dark Night of the Soul, and even suicide. When an individual is in the depth of disjuncture, suicide prevention hinges on head on acceptance of the disjuncture, non-judgmental support of awareness, and expert guidance designed to reduce disjuncture and encourage alignment.

The correct healing response to disjuncture is always to improve Alignment and work towards strong Connection. See the LP Alignment Rule Set for initial guidance.

Chronic disjuncture and repression lead to Pathology. Chronic disjuncture leads to stunted physical, psychological, and emotional development (since energy otherwise necessary for development and health is turned towards activating and maintaining repression and other Defense Mechanisms) and, in serious long-term cases, neurosis, psychosis, disease, and even death. It is thus in the best interests of the physical unit to identify disjuncture and deal with it directly itself into alignment with its own Highest Self.

Maslow felt there were psychological costs to disjuncture: "But there is also another element in conscience, or, if you like, another kind of conscience, which we all have either weakly or strongly. And this is the “intrinsic conscience.” This is based upon the un conscious and preconscious perception of our own nature, of our own destiny, or our own capacities, of our own “call” in life. It insists that we be true to our inner nature and that we do not deny it out of weakness or for advantage or for any other reason. He who belies his talent, the born painter who sells stockings instead, the intelligent man who lives a stupid life, the man who sees the truth and keeps his mouth shut, the coward who gives up his manliness, all these people perceive in a deep way that they have done wrong to themselves and despise themselves for it. Out of this self-punishment may come only neurosis, but there may equally well come renewed cour age, righteous indignation, increased self-respect, because of thereafter doing the right thing; in a word, growth and im improvement can come through pain and conflict."

Maslow: "It seems quite clear that personality problems may sometimes be loud protests against the crushing of one’s psychological bones, of one’s true inner nature. What is sick then is not to protest while this crime is being committed."

Maslow has some comments on the psychological utility of shame: What healthy people do feel guilty about (or ashamed, anxious, sad, or regretful) are (I) improvable shortcomings, e.g., laziness, thoughtlessness, loss of temper, hurting others; (2) stubborn remnants of psychological ill health, e.g., prejudice, jealousy, envy; (3) habits, which, though relatively independent of character structure, may yet be very strong, or (4) shortcomings of the species or of the culture or of the group with which they have identified. The general formula seems to be that healthy people will feel bad about discrepancies between what is and what might very well be or ought to be...."

Notes
The EGN is mystified, obscured, and hard to pin down. It "is constituted of no fewer than three macrohistorical models, each with their own implications and internal logic, may have been a weakness theoretically, but could be an advantage in practice. The very ambiguity of the narrative gave it a peculiar flexibility: it allowed authors – provided they possessed sufficient erudition and rhetorical skill – to have recourse to different apologetic strategies at different times or to mix elements taken from all three models, and thereby elude their critics almost forever in a never-ending maze of references to unquestionable authorities."

Notes
A Plateau Experience "...is to live at a constantly high level in the sense of illumination or awakening or in Zen, in the easy or miraculous, in the nothing special. It is to take rather casually the poignancy and the preciousness and the beauty of things, but not to make a big deal out of it because it's happening every hour, you know, all the time."

"The important point that emerges from these plateau experiences is that they're essentially cognitive. As a matter of fact, almost by definition, they represent a witnessing of the world. The plateau experience is a witnessing of reality. It involves seeing the symbolic, or the mythic, the poetic, the transcendent, the miraculous, the unbelievable, all of which I think are part of the real world instead of existing only in the eyes of the beholder."

A plateau experience is a permanent state of connection, one wherein you can still go to a grocery store, pay bills, etc.

"...the plateau experience perhaps has more to do with the growth of the individual, while the peak experience could serve, like an LSD experience, as an opener." <ref>Walter Pahnke quoted in Maslow, A. New energy creates a world of balance, harmony, unity, prosperity, and peace. New Energy is generated when Consciousness is filtered through New Energy Archetypes in the mind.

New energy is dramatically different, and much more powerful, than Old Energy. Old Energy is imbalanced, violent, implosive, aggressive, depressing, destructive and explosive. New energy is balanced, gentle, expansive, uplifting, generative, inclusive, and (over the long term) indomitable.

New energy is generated by individuals working with New Energy Archetypes in a New Energy Creation Template, like the Triumph of Spirit New Energy Creation Template.
