Notes

Book of Power

Symbolizes initiation/initiation ceremony, the goal of which is to "die" to your old self and be reborn as a loyal peon of power.

Submission

"(Initiating Death leading to Mastership.) Whatever is dreamed to some purpose is set out on the 'Drawing Board' which no one approaches before he has entered the Middle Chamber. In the darkness where the whiteness of skulls and bones stands out, there all illusion vanishes and judgement is moulded. The Initiate dies to all that is factitious and prepares himself to receive Mastership."[1] Advice to not be factitious. Seems to be saying, if you want to be successful, don't be a squeaky wheel.

A euphemism for brainwashing. "The ideas expressed by this arcanum are those of destruction preceding or following regeneration."[2] Meaning destruction of an ego and identity external to the organization, and that might provide an anchor, and reconstruction of one that is loyal.

Book of Slavery

The "inevitability" of change and transformation. Just accept things, even death, no matter what because it's all a "beautiful" part of life. [3] If you "accept" you are much less likey to resist.
