Channelling refers to the "ability of persons who claim to speak or write messages coming from personalities other than their own."[1]. The term is a New Age term syncretic with Connection and Intramonadic Communication. Channeling is an outcome of connection and occurs when your Bodily Ego makes a Connection with a Spiritual Ego (i.e. Monad), one's own or someone else's, and receives information from that monad.

Notes

"With the mind or body in a light trance the person appears to be taken over by another personality, who communicates through the individual, often with messages of spiritual or psychological important. The ideas is that the person is a 'channel' for some other, higher sources that communicates through him or her. This source may be understood as having higher spiritual advancement, psychic skills, or special knowledge. It may identify itself as a teacher, spiritual guide, or even a deity, as well as a spirit of someone who has died."[2]

William Blake admitted that much of his poetry, including the poem Jerusalem, were channeled works.[3]

The term is popular in New Age circles where it typically refers to one-way communication that occurs as a result of temporary Connection.

Technically, channeling occurs when the Bodily Ego of the Physical Unit connects to one or more monads that are "at a distance" from (i.e. not closely related to the) Resident Monadic Consciousness, and receives their thoughts. As such, channeling is a form of Intramonadic Communication

Channeling is exactly like standing in Times Square New York and reading thoughts from a citizen in Ukraine, a dog in the street

Initiation of Intermonadic Communication is not difficult and can sometimes occur spontaneously, especially in times of crises when the Physical Unit may be desperate for assistance, and more open as a result. Communication may also occur spontaneously when the psychological and emotional boundaries of the Physical Unit have been damaged by Toxic Socialization. Communication may be intentionally initiated by opening an Information Stream using visualization, intent, and/or Connection Supplements.

While opening to channel is easy, there are many pitfalls. Ego Damage can lead to Communication Errors or worse (e.g. loss of individual identity). Improper grounding and training may lead to confabulation and Communication Errors. If an individual "chaneller" has an audience, misconception and misdirection may be dispersed into the Collective Consciousness.

Various types of channeling may be identified including Conscious Channeling, Trance Channeling and Promiscuous Channeling.

Various types of Channeling Pathology may also occur.

William James relates the experience of a forty-nine year old man who "channels" God.

"God is more real to me than any thought or thing or person. I feel his presence positively, and the more as I live in closer harmony with his laws as written in my body and mind.[4] I feel him in the sunshine or rain; and awe mingled with a delicious restfulness most nearly describes my feelings. I talk to him as to a companion in prayer and praise, and our communion is delightful. He answers me again and again, often in words so clearly spoken that it seems my outer ear must have carried"[5]

Madame Blavatsky notes that Theosophists believe that spirits communicate with humans "by entirely subjective means" (i.e. channeling) [6]
